Breast Augmentation in the Fort Lauderdale and Miami Area
Along with liposuction and the facelift, the breast augmentation procedure (augmentation mammoplasty) is the cosmetic surgery most in demand. The goal is not only an increase in breast size, but also shape and firmness. Plastic surgeon Blane Shatkin has performed dozens of breast augmentation procedures on his patients from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and the Weston area.
Breast Augmentation Candidates
Starlets who want to wear plunging necklines at the next Oscar presentation are only a small number of the women who undergo the breast augmentation procedure every year. Older women may request it as a part of the breast lift surgery. Women who simply want to look shapelier may receive implants. Women who have had mastectomies are given the procedure as the basis for breast reconstruction. Those who are underdeveloped or present with a deformity also go through the breast augmentation procedure.
Before the Breast Augmentation Procedure
It is important that breast augmentation patients maintain realistic expectations. The breast augmentation procedure is not a miracle operation. You cannot come in an A and walk out a DDD. Huge increases in breast size are not recommended. Increases of one or two cup sizes are all that can be done and still keep a natural appearance.
During Your Breast Augmentation Procedure
The incision for a breast augmentation procedure is made either underneath, where the breast meets the chest, or around the areola in the nipple area. The implant is placed either over or under the muscle. Sutures, skin adhesive, or surgical tape is used to close the wound.
After the Breast Augmentation Procedure
The stitches will come out in a few days. Redness, swelling, and pain may persist for a month or two, and it takes about six months to a year for the scars to fade.
